Conclusion

I can't believe I've finished - yes a little late but done!!!! It certainly has been an eye opener for me but I do feel more able to hold a conversation about all these terms. My class has just starting blogging with another school and it is nice to be able to be giving instructions that I actually understand! My challenge now is to revisit all the things we have covered - and to delete some accounts! Thanks for a great opportunity!

#22 Ebooks & #23 Audiobooks

So very glad that my all time favourite, 'Pride and Prejudice', was on the top 100 EBooks on the Project Gutenburg site. Unfortunately most of my other favourite books and authors were nowhere to be found. A special needs teacher from another school has highly recommended EBooks for children with reading challenges. I don't mind audiobooks especially if I'm travelling in the car. A year 4 class a few years ago listened to Deltora Quest on audio CD. Even though they loved it they said they preferred it when I read! I would be keen to use EBooks simply because of the cost of hard copies but I find nothing nicer than sitting on the beach reading a good book - the pleasure of turning a page. How does sand mix with electronics?

#21 Online Video

I love You Tube and Teacher Tube! I have used both for a while and find that as a teaching tool they can be a life saver! After a failed attempt last week to make a paper crane in class we You Tubed it and successfully completed our activity. The kids then went home and went on the site to do more. I particularly love You Tube just for the laughs - that's why I have picked this link on women drivers. It is embarrassing to our gender that these women were ever allowed behind a wheel!!! http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=women+drivers

#20 Podcasts

Boy, there are a lot of podcasts out there!! I think you could find a podcast on just about anything. I browsed through lots of sites from yoga for weight loss to Judaism. I spent most time at the ABC Radio podcast site catching up on the NAPLAN debate and checking out info on Cyber-bullying, which unfortunately is topical with some of our Year 6 students. As a teacher resourse I think podcasts are great.

#19 Rollyo

I had a go at creating a searchroll for personal reference sites that I could use in class ie encyclopedias, dictionaries, quick answers to quiz questions. I could see how this tool would be a very useful way to collect sites that are reliable - another way to save time as a teacher.

#18 Wikis

It was great to start this activity with a very easy to follow video. Wiki in Plain English was a well put together video -should have been called wiki for dummies! I immediately started to think of how this could be used in the classroom and with staff members. Similar to the camping example, you could organise excursions, liturgies etc with staff and with the kids the possibilities are endless for group work. The video would be a great tool to show the class.

#17 Delicious

Not another account! Not another password! I can see how this website can be useful to organise and categorize favourites into one place - using a few different computers this will be handy. I like things to be well organised especially with all the teacher resourses that you gather.
